Right in the heart of Saint-Mammès

Visits

  • The XIth century Romanesque church with its old tombstones (from the XIIIth century), the Virgin with Child, the statue of St. Mammès, its High altar and Altrpiece (during services or by reservation at theTown hall).
  • The Croix-Blanche Manor (XVIIth century), the farmyard painted by Sisley, the old lock of 1724, the lock-keeper’s house of the XVIIIth century and the river floodmarks.
  • "Batel-expo" explains the development of the barge industry, and features a video showing the history of Saint-Mammès (by reservation at Town hall).
  • “Le monde des mariniers” circuit. Deep in a labyrinth of pathways that skirt around typically small private gardens, come and discover the bargeman’s world and soak up the history of these men and their work.
  • Don’t hesitate to stroll along our alleyways, and stop and read the testimonial plaques that trace the bargeman’s life in Saint-Mammès (espacially in “Rue du Clos”).
  • The “Sisley walk”, on quai de la Croix-Blanche, where you can wander along the banks of the Seine past the barges and the artist’s trade-mark scenes.
  • Guided tours for groups are available on resquest from the Tourism Office in Moret-sur-Loing.

Other activities

  • Siht-seeing cruises on the Seine and the Loing: depart at 3pm every Sunday from the old lock, quai du Loing (from Estaer until the end of october).
